New eBusiness guide gets down to business

Australian organisations need less hype about eBusiness and more practical, detailed advice on strategy, planning and implementation, according to the publishers of a new book.

Launched today, the Australian eBusiness Guide is written by a group of high profile Australian eBusiness practitioners under the editorship of leading IT commentator, Graeme Philipson, and published by CCH Australia.

CCH Chief Operating Officer, Pip Hughes, said that the book is the most comprehensive guide to eBusiness in Australia, covering everything from the regulatory, tax and legal environment to advice on operating an eStore and eBusiness accounting. "All the content is written with Australian audiences in mind," said Hughes. "We wanted to produce a genuine business tool, tailored for Australian business."

Other topics covered included planning a web site, building an intranet, marketing and branding and conducting secure eBusiness. "This book is about practical business guidance and advice, not techno-babble," explained Hughes. "It's packed with hundreds of tips, examples and web references for further research."

Former Managing Director of Microsoft Australia, Daniel Petre, has written the book's foreword. He writes: "This fabulous text will add value to every Australian business. Whether they like it or not, Australian businesses have to respond to the challenge of an Internet-connected world, and this important guide will help set them on the path to understanding, and to the implementation of successful business strategies."

Bob Hayward, Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific Operations at Gartner Inc., is equally positive. "A period of irrational investor exuberance has come to an end, but the hard work of transforming business to leverage the Web has only just started," he said. "This book explains in a clear and succinct manner how Australian organisations can undertake this vital transformation."

The Australian eBusiness Guide retails for $129 including GST and is available from professional bookshops. Until 30 November the publisher is offering the title for only $99 including GST. You can order it direct from the publisher on 1 300 300 224 or at the CCH website www.cch.com.au.
