Who will benefit from the service?

Busy commercial professionals, such as accountants, lawyers, tax advisers and employment advisers.
What areas does the service cover?

Legal, procedural and compliance issues relating to areas in which CCH New Zealand Limited publishes commentary, namely:


• personal income tax;
• corporate tax;
• GST;
• duties;
• trusts;
• business law;
• company law;
• conveyancing law
• employment law; and
• health and safety.


Note: Financial reporting is currently not included.


What medium do I use to ask the questions? How will they be answered?


You can ask questions online by logging on to our website, clicking on the Q & A Service link under my subscriptions and submitting your query. We will respond to you by email.


Who will answer the questions?


CCH's in-house, legally trained analysts who specialise in taxation, and the law and procedure relating to companies, employment, health and safety, property and business. If necessary, we will call on the expertise of outside professionals.


What are the hours of service?


Although questions can be submitted at any time, our analysts will respond during our normal office hours from 8.30am to 5.00pm.

The service will not operate during public holidays and over the extended Christmas break.


What can I do if I want an answer fast?


The standard subscription to the Q&A service gives you an answer usually within 72 hours. We recognise that from time to time a faster response is necessary and you need to know when the response will arrive.

We also provide a priority service which guarantees you an answer within 24 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays). This service can be used as and when you need it but will incur an additional charge of $250 (plus GST) per question. To use the service you enter your question in the normal way and then just tick the priority box before you submit it. Once we have received the question we will contact you to confirm that we are able to answer it and guarantee a turnaround within 24 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays) or there will be no charge.


What types of question will my subscription allow me to have answered?


We aim to answer the day-to-day questions that arise in your business or practice. Our service does not replace the need for specialist advice on planning or strategy matters. Nor can we advise you about the correctness of tax positions you have taken or commercial transactions. Therefore we cannot review specific documents or other detailed attachments. However, where possible, we will set out alternatives for further consideration.
